Ranopill 500 Tablet 10 is used for the long-term management of chronic angina, a condition in which the heart does not receive enough oxygen-rich blood, causing chest pain. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing ranolazine, and belongs to the class of anti-anginal medicines.
This medicine works by reducing the late sodium current in heart muscle cells, which improves the heart's ability to relax between beats and reduces the frequency of angina episodes, without significantly affecting heart rate or blood pressure. It is primarily a preventive treatment and should be taken regularly, even if you are feeling well. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water, without crushing, breaking or chewing it, in the dose prescribed by your doctor.
Tell your doctor about any other heart conditions or medicines you may be on, especially nitrate medications or blood pressure medications, before starting this medicine. Regular monitoring of your condition is important. Report any dizziness, shortness of breath or chest discomfort to your doctor immediately. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
