Osteofos 70 Tablet is used to prevent and treat osteoporosis, a condition where bones become weak and brittle, leading to an increased risk of fractures. It is particularly beneficial for postmenopausal women and individuals undergoing long-term steroid therapy. Additionally, it is used to manage Paget's disease of bone, a disorder characterised by abnormal bone growth and remodelling.
It is also used to treat Paget's disease in both men and women. Paget's disease is a bone disease that disrupts the replacement of old bone tissue with new ones. It primarily affects the pelvis, skull, spine and legs. Its common symptoms include bone pain, deformities, and fractures.
This medication reduces the risk of fractures in individuals with osteoporosis by increasing bone density. The tablet also increases bone mass in men with osteoporosis. Those experiencing glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis can also benefit from it. The active ingredient in this tablet is alendronate or alendronic acid 70 mg.
Osteofos Tablet is generally safe when prescribed by a doctor. However, it is contraindicated in patients with severe kidney impairment, heart disease, dental surgery, and low blood calcium levels.
