NEWBONA JELLY SACHET 5GM is used to treat and prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and in men, to manage bone loss caused by long-term steroid use, and to treat Paget's disease of bone. Regular use strengthens bones and lowers the risk of fractures.
It belongs to a group of medicines called bisphosphonates. Take it on an empty stomach first thing in the morning with a full glass of plain water. Do not eat, drink (except plain water), or take other medicines for at least 30 minutes after taking it. Remain upright (sitting, standing, or walking) for at least 30 minutes after taking it to protect the food pipe.
Weight-bearing exercise, adequate calcium and vitamin D intake, and avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol all help maintain bone density alongside this medicine.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about any difficulties swallowing, kidney problems, or planned dental procedures, as bisphosphonates can rarely affect the jawbone. Tell your doctor immediately about any chest pain or difficulty swallowing. Speak to your doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
