Nebicard 2.5 Tablet is used to control high blood pressure (hypertension) and to help manage stable mild to moderate chronic heart failure. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing nebivolol 2.5mg, and belongs to a class of medicines called beta-blockers.
This medicine works by blocking the effect of adrenaline on the heart, which slows the heart rate and eases the heart’s workload. Nebivolol also helps widen the blood vessels, which further lowers blood pressure. For heart failure, it is used in elderly patients aged 70 years and above, together with standard treatment. Swallow the tablet with water at the same time, with or without food, in the dose prescribed by your doctor. Continue taking it even if you feel well, as high blood pressure often causes no symptoms.
Do not stop this medicine suddenly without medical advice, as this can worsen your heart condition.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have asthma or other breathing problems, a very slow heart rate, diabetes, or kidney or liver problems. Tell your doctor about any other medicines you take, and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as it is not generally recommended. Contact your doctor if you have a very slow pulse, marked breathlessness or swelling of the ankles.
