Mucomix 200mg Injection 5ml is an antidote injection used to treat paracetamol overdose, where a potentially harmful amount of paracetamol has been taken. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing acetylcysteine, and belongs to a class of medicines called antidotes.
This medicine works by replacing glutathione, a natural substance the liver uses to neutralise the harmful by-product of paracetamol, which helps protect the liver from damage. It is given as an injection by a doctor or healthcare professional, who will decide the dose based on your condition.
If you think you or someone else has taken too much paracetamol, get urgent medical help straight away, even if you feel well, as liver damage can develop later.
Before receiving this medicine, tell your doctor about any other medicines you take, any allergies or asthma, and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Tell your healthcare team immediately if you develop a rash, swelling of the face, wheezing or difficulty breathing during treatment.
