Mucinac 600 Orange Flavour Sugar Free Effervescent Tablet is used to treat respiratory conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, bronchitis, and cystic fibrosis. It works by thinning thick mucus in the airways, making it easier to cough out and clear. This helps relieve chest congestion, wheezing, and shortness of breath, improving overall breathing comfort and lung function.

As it is an effervescent tablet, dissolve the tablet in a glass of water and drink it immediately.
Do not crush or chew the tablet, as this may affect the way the medication is absorbed in the body.
Do not change your tablet dose or take them more often than prescribed.

Mucinac 600 Tablet should be taken orally.

Mucinac 600 Orange Flavour Sugar Free Effervescent Tablet may cause side effects such as abdominal discomfort, vomiting, diarrhoea, heartburn, dizziness, and stomach irritation.

Managing the Side Effects:

Most of the side effects resolve on discontinuation of the tablet and are temporary and, in the majority of cases, do not require medical attention. If you experience abdominal discomfort, take this tablet with a meal or snack to help minimise abdominal discomfort. If any of these side effects are severe or persistent, consult your doctor.

Mucinac 600 Tablet contains the following component:

Acetylcysteine (600 mg): It is a mucolytic agent that works by thinning and loosening the thick mucus in the airways. This helps make the mucus less sticky and easier to cough up, relieving congestion and improving breathing.

Pregnancy

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant when Mucinac 600 Tablet is prescribed to you. Consult your doctor to know the risks of using this tablet during pregnancy.

Breastfeeding

There is no reliable information on the safety of Mucinac 600 Tablet for nursing infants. If you are breastfeeding, consult your doctor before taking this tablet.

Alcohol

Alcohol is not recommended while taking Mucinac 600 Tablet. Alcohol can add to dizziness due to this tablet. It can also worsen the side effects of this medication.

Liver

Mucinac 600 Tablet is not recommended in patients with liver impairment. If you have liver disease, it's better to consult your doctor before taking this tablet.

Kidney

Patients with kidney impairment should not take Mucinac 600 Tablet. Inform your doctor if you have kidney impairment before taking this tablet.

Using Machines & Driving

Mucinac 600 Tablet does not affect the ability to drive and use of heavy machines.

Allergy

Do not take Mucinac 600 Tablet if you are allergic to acetylcysteine or any other ingredient in this tablet. Read the label and check the ingredients before taking this medicine to avoid allergic reactions.

Children

Mucinac 600 is not intended for children under 2 years of age.

Older Patients

Older patients with heart, kidney, and liver dysfunction should take this tablet cautiously. They might also be taking other medications that can interact with Mucinac 600 Tablet. Consult your doctor and discuss your prescription medications before taking this medicine.

Drug-Drug Interactions

Mucinac 600 Tablet can interact with medications, including:

Antibiotics such as ciprofloxacin, erythromycin, and doxycycline. This medicine can prevent antibiotics from working properly. If you are taking antibiotics, make sure you take this medicine two hours before or after taking your antibiotics.
Other cough medicines should not be used at the same time as this medicine, as it may affect the effectiveness of this tablet.
Medicines used to treat angina attacks, such as nitroglycerin. This medicine may increase the blood pressure-lowering effect of nitroglycerin.
Medicines to treat high blood pressure, such as ACE inhibitors. Mucinac 600 Tablet may increase the blood pressure-lowering effect of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors.
Medicines used to treat poisoning, such as activated charcoal. The concomitant use of Mucinac 600 Tablet can reduce the effect of activated charcoal.

Drug-Disease Interactions

Mucinac 600 Tablet can interact with diseases, including:

Heart problems: This tablet may increase the risk of increased heart rate.
Kidney dysfunction: This tablet may worsen the existing condition.
Liver impairment: This tablet may worsen the existing condition.
Hypotension: This tablet may increase the risk of hypotension and worsen the condition.
Stevens-Johnson syndrome: This tablet might worsen the skin reactions in case of this syndrome.
Lyell syndrome: This tablet might worsen the skin reactions in case of this syndrome.

Daily Dose

Mucinac 600 Tablet should be taken as per the prescription provided by the doctor. The dosage may change based on individual factors such as the severity of the condition and response to treatment. It is important to follow the prescribed dosage and not exceed it without consulting your doctor.

Over Dose

If you or someone else takes an excessive amount of Mucinac 600 Tablet by accident, you must get immediate medical attention from your doctor or a nearby hospital. Symptoms of an overdose include nausea, diarrhoea, and vomiting.

Missed Dose

If you forgot to take Mucinac 600 Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If the time for the next dosage is close, it is recommended to skip the missed one now and resume your regular dosage pattern. Never increase your dosage without consulting your doctor.

Store this medicine at a temperature below 30 ºC.
Protect it from light and moisture.
Keep Mucinac 600 Tablet away from children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date has passed.

Drink adequate water throughout the day to keep your airways moist and thin the mucus, making it easier to clear.
Limit salt (sodium) intake to reduce fluid retention and bloating, which can be problematic for individuals with respiratory conditions.
If you are a smoker, quit smoking to manage COPD and asthma. Smoking damages the lungs and worsens respiratory symptoms. Reduce your exposure to secondhand smoke, as it can irritate the airways.
Minimise your exposure to allergens and irritants that can trigger asthma or exacerbate respiratory symptoms, such as dust, pollen, pet dander, and air pollutants.
Inhale steam from a bowl of hot water to moisten the airways and loosen mucus, relieving congestion and coughing.
Add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to hot water and inhale the steam can help clear the airways.
