Montex 10 Tablet is used to manage asthma and seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever) in adults and adolescents aged 15 years and above. It helps control breathing symptoms such as wheezing, chest tightness, and breathlessness caused by asthma, and relieves nasal symptoms such as sneezing and itching caused by allergies.
It contains montelukast, a leukotriene receptor antagonist. Take it as prescribed by your doctor, usually at the same time each day, with or without food. Continue taking it regularly, as consistent use is needed for effective control of symptoms.
Avoiding known allergy triggers, such as pollen, dust mites, or pet dander, can help manage symptoms alongside this medicine. People with exercise-induced breathing difficulties may benefit from taking the tablet as advised before exercise.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have any history of liver problems or are taking other medicines. Inform your doctor if you notice any changes in mood, sleep disturbances, unusual dreams, or thoughts of self-harm, as these rare but important side effects have been reported with montelukast. It should be used with caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
