CompositionMontek 10 Tablet is used to prevent and manage asthma in adults and adolescents over 15, and to relieve the symptoms of seasonal and year-round allergic rhinitis (hay fever). It also helps prevent narrowing of the airways brought on by exercise.
It contains montelukast, a leukotriene receptor antagonist. It works by reducing the inflammation and swelling in the airways involved in asthma and allergy.
Take it as prescribed, usually in the evening, and continue regularly for the full duration advised.
Tell your doctor about any existing conditions before starting. Report any changes in mood, sleep or behaviour, as montelukast can rarely cause these. Because montelukast can cause serious mood or behaviour changes, it is generally reserved for allergic rhinitis when other treatments are ineffective or not tolerated; report any such changes promptly.
