Montair 10 Tablet is a preventive medicine used in adults and adolescents to prevent asthma symptoms and to manage allergic rhinitis symptoms such as a runny, blocked, or itchy nose. It helps lower airway inflammation and reduces daily allergic reactions.
It contains montelukast, a leukotriene receptor antagonist. Swallow the tablet whole with or without food, usually in the evening as prescribed. Take it regularly every day even when you have no symptoms, as it is a long-term controller medicine and not meant for acute asthma attacks.
Avoiding environmental allergens complements treatment in managing respiratory allergies. Identify and minimise exposure to pollen, dust mites, pet dander, and tobacco smoke to help keep your airways clear and calm.
Before starting this medicine, tell your doctor if you have a history of liver disease, depression, mood changes, or sleep disturbances. Contact your doctor promptly if you notice any unusual mood changes, agitation, troubling dreams, or worsening asthma symptoms. Montelukast can cause serious mood or behaviour changes; for allergic rhinitis it is generally reserved for people who do not respond to or cannot tolerate alternative treatments.
