Monotrate SR 30 Tablet is used to help prevent angina attacks (chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart). It reduces the frequency of chest pain episodes and helps you carry out daily activities with greater comfort.
It contains isosorbide mononitrate, a nitrate, in a sustained-release form. Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush or chew it. Take it as prescribed and do not stop it abruptly. Do not take medicines for erectile dysfunction (such as sildenafil) with nitrates, as this can cause a life-threatening drop in blood pressure.
Keeping to a heart-healthy lifestyle helps reduce angina triggers. Quitting smoking, following a low-fat diet, staying active within the limits your doctor advises, and managing stress all support a healthier heart.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about low blood pressure, severe anaemia, or other heart conditions, and about all other medicines. Tell your doctor if chest pain is not improving or becomes more frequent. Speak to your doctor before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
