CompositionMonotrate 20 Tablet is used to prevent the chest pain of angina in people with coronary artery disease, helping them stay active with fewer attacks. It is not for relieving a sudden attack.
It contains isosorbide mononitrate, a nitrate. It works by relaxing and widening the blood vessels, which improves blood flow to the heart and reduces its workload.
Take it regularly as prescribed. Do not stop it suddenly without medical advice. A headache is common at first and usually settles.
Do not take it with medicines for erectile dysfunction (such as sildenafil), as together they can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Tell your doctor about any low blood pressure or glaucoma before use, and rise slowly to reduce dizziness.
