Midorise 5 Tablet is used to treat symptomatic orthostatic hypotension in adults, a condition in which blood pressure drops suddenly on standing, causing dizziness or faintness. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing midodrine, and belongs to a class of medicines called sympathomimetic agents.
This medicine is generally prescribed when other measures, such as support stockings, have not given enough relief. It helps reduce lightheadedness, weakness and blurred vision when you change position. Your doctor will advise the best times of day to take it, as taking it too close to bedtime can raise blood pressure when lying down. Use the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor.
Rising slowly from sitting or lying down, and avoiding standing still for long periods, can help support symptom control alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor about any heart disease or high blood pressure before starting this medicine, and about any other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Speak to your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding. Report a severe headache, blurred vision or a pounding heartbeat when lying down, and report any side effects that persist or become serious. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
