CompositionMetolar XR-12.5 Capsule is used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension) and angina pectoris, chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart. It can improve exercise tolerance and reduce how often angina episodes occur.
It contains metoprolol, a beta-blocker, in an extended-release form. It is also used in heart failure of various causes, including ischaemic, hypertensive or cardiomyopathic, and helps reduce the risk of further cardiovascular events after a heart attack. Take it as prescribed, and do not stop it suddenly, as your doctor will need to reduce the dose gradually.
Reducing salt intake, staying physically active as advised by your doctor, maintaining a healthy weight and avoiding smoking can help support better heart and blood pressure control alongside this medicine.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have asthma or breathing problems, a naturally slow pulse, or poor circulation in the hands and feet, and about other medicines you take. Seek urgent medical care if you experience severe dizziness, fainting, breathing difficulty or worsening shortness of breath.
