CompositionEmbeta XR-12.5 Tablet is used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension) and heart-related chest pain (angina pectoris) in adults, and to help control certain irregular heart rhythms such as arrhythmias and palpitations.
It contains metoprolol succinate, a beta-blocker. Swallow the tablet whole with or without food, at the same time each day, and do not stop taking it suddenly, as this can cause a sudden rise in blood pressure or worsen heart problems.
Reducing salt intake, taking regular exercise as advised by your doctor, and maintaining a healthy weight support blood pressure and heart health alongside this medicine. Limiting alcohol also helps avoid excessive lowering of blood pressure.
Tell your doctor if you have asthma, a slow heart rate, or diabetes before starting, as beta-blockers can mask signs of low blood sugar. Report a very slow heartbeat, cold hands and feet, or worsening breathlessness immediately.
