Metocard AM Tablet is used to control high blood pressure (hypertension) and to prevent the chest pain of angina in adults, helping reduce the strain on the heart and lower the risk of heart attack and stroke.
It combines amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker that relaxes the blood vessels, with metoprolol succinate, a selective beta-blocker that slows the heart rate. Take it as prescribed, at the same time each day. Do not stop it suddenly, as this can cause a sharp rise in heart rate or blood pressure.
Reducing salt in your diet, staying physically active within your doctor's advice, maintaining a healthy weight and quitting smoking all support better blood pressure control alongside this medicine.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have asthma, a very slow heart rate, or diabetes, and about any other medicines you take. Mild ankle swelling is common with amlodipine; report it if troublesome, along with marked breathlessness, dizziness or a very slow pulse.
