CompositionMet XL AM 50/5 Tablet is used to manage high blood pressure and heart conditions such as chronic angina and coronary artery disease. It is a combination medicine containing metoprolol (a beta-blocker) and amlodipine (a calcium channel blocker).
It eases the strain on the heart and helps prevent heart attack and stroke. Take it in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop it suddenly, as this can cause a rise in heart rate or blood pressure.
Reduce salt (pickles, papad, chips), limit fried food, avoid smoking and stay physically active as advised by your doctor. Rise slowly from a sitting or lying position to avoid dizziness.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have asthma, a slow heart rate, heart failure or diabetes, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. This medicine can hide the warning signs of low blood sugar. Report a very slow pulse, marked ankle swelling or breathlessness. Ask your doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
