Merotrol 1 g Injection is a powerful antibiotic used to treat serious, life-threatening bacterial infections, including meningitis, severe pneumonia, and complicated abdominal or urinary tract infections. It is often used in hospital settings for serious infections when other antibiotics may not be effective, including infections that have spread through the bloodstream (sepsis).
It contains meropenem, a carbapenem antibiotic that works by disabling the enzymes bacteria need to build their protective outer wall, causing the bacteria to die. This broad-spectrum injection is given directly into a vein by a doctor in a clinical setting.
Following your doctor's advice on completing the full course of treatment supports the best outcome. Staying well hydrated and reporting any new symptoms promptly to your doctor can help ensure safe treatment.
Before this medicine is given, tell your doctor if you have a history of seizures or kidney disease. Tell the medical staff immediately if you develop a severe skin rash or persistent diarrhoea during or after your treatment.
