Meftal Spas Tablet is used for the following conditions :

Primary Dysmenorrhoea (Painful Periods): Relieves uterine cramps, pelvic pain, and associated discomfort during menstruation.
Abdominal & Visceral Colic: Helps ease spasm-related pain in the intestines, bile duct, or urinary tract.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS): Reduces gut spasms and associated abdominal discomfort.

Always take Meftal Spas Tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor - do not self-adjust the dose.
Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water. Do not crush, break, or chew.
Take with or immediately after food to reduce the risk of gastric irritation.
Do not take more than the prescribed number of tablets per day. Exceeding the dose increases the risk of stomach ulcers, kidney damage, and cardiovascular events.
Take the medicine for the duration prescribed by your doctor; do not stop abruptly without consulting your doctor.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember - unless your next dose is due within 2 hours. Never double-dose.

Meftal Spas Tablet is administered orally.

Meftal Spas Tablet 10 composition contains Dicyclomine (10 Mg) + Mefenamic Acid (250 Mg) as its active ingredients.

Dicyclomine Hydrochloride (10 mg) [Antispasmodic]:
- Target Tissue: Acts primarily on the smooth muscle walls of the gastrointestinal tract.
- Action: Blocks muscarinic receptors to stop acetylcholine signals, while directly relaxing intestinal muscles.
- Result: Relieves hypermotility, stomach cramps, and painful spasms linked to Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and bowel disorders.
Mefenamic Acid (250 mg) [NSAID]:
- Target Tissue: Acts systemically throughout the body, with high efficacy in the uterine lining.
- Action: Inhibits COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes to block the production of inflammatory chemicals called prostaglandins (specifically PGE2 and PGF2α).
- Result: Helps reduce the uterine contractions associated with menstrual cramps (primary dysmenorrhoea), reduces localised inflammation, and provides mild fever relief.

The combination of these two medicines provides a dual-action approach. While mefenamic acid targets the inflammatory aspect of pain, dicyclomine helps relax spasms in the gut, reducing abdominal pain and cramps.

Pregnancy

Is it safe to use Meftal Spas Tablet during pregnancy?

It is not recommended during pregnancy, Mefenamic Acid (NSAID) is contraindicated from 20 weeks of gestation onwards due to risk of fetal renal dysfunction (oligohydramnios) and premature closure of the ductus arteriosus. Use during the first trimester should also be avoided unless clearly necessary. Dicyclomine is classified as Category B for pregnancy risk but should only be used if the benefit outweighs risk. Always consult your gynaecologist before use during pregnancy or while planning conception.

Breastfeeding

Is it safe to consume Meftal Spas Tablet during breastfeeding?

Before taking this tablet, consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding, as it is not advisable for use in breastfeeding women.

Daily Dose

The recommended daily dose of Meftal Spas Tablets varies depending on the individual's condition and medical history. Generally, this tablet is taken once a day. Over Dose

An overdose of Meftal Spas Tablets can cause a variety of symptoms, including nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, fatigue, and unconsciousness. If you suspect that you overdosed on the tablets, seek immediate medical attention.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Meftal Spas Tablets, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

Meftal Spas tablets should be stored at a temperature not exceeding 30°C.

For Menstrual Pain (Dysmenorrhoea):
- Apply a warm heat pad to the lower abdomen. Heat relaxes uterine muscles and significantly reduces cramping.
- Light aerobic exercise (walking, yoga) during non-painful days of the cycle may reduce cycle-to-cycle severity over time.
- Anti-inflammatory foods (omega-3 rich fish, leafy greens) may support reduced prostaglandin activity.
