CompositionMeftal-P Suspension is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve mild to moderate pain, reduce inflammation, and lower high body temperature (fever) in children. It is commonly given for conditions such as headache, toothache, muscle aches, accidental sprains, and post-vaccination fever.
It contains mefenamic acid, which works by blocking the action of chemical messengers in the body known as cyclo-oxygenase (COX) enzymes. These enzymes produce prostaglandins, which are responsible for causing pain, swelling, and fever at the site of injury or illness. It is highly recommended to give this liquid after meals.
To assist your child's recovery, ensure they get plenty of bed rest and offer small, frequent sips of water or oral rehydration solutions to prevent dehydration during fever episodes. Applying a cool, damp cloth to the forehead can also help lower body temperature comfortably.
Before administering this medicine, inform your doctor if your child has a history of stomach ulcers, asthma, bleeding disorders, or liver, kidney, or heart conditions. Tell them about any other medications the child is taking. If your child experiences severe stomach pain, vomiting, or skin rashes, stop the medicine immediately.
