Dysmen Tablet is used to provide targeted relief from painful menstrual cramps (dysmenorrhea) and abdominal spasms. It targets the physical source of the pain, the cramping muscle, while simultaneously lowering the inflammation that makes the pain feel intense and throbbing.
This medication contains a combination of Dicyclomine, an antispasmodic, and Mefenamic Acid, an NSAID. Dicyclomine relaxes the smooth muscles of the uterus and intestines to stop the ""clenching"" sensation. Mefenamic Acid blocks the production of prostaglandins, which are the chemicals that trigger both the pain and the heavy cramping during your period.
Take this tablet as soon as you feel the cramps starting, preferably with food or milk to protect your stomach. It is usually taken three times a day for the first 2-3 days of your period. Inform your doctor if you have a history of glaucoma or stomach ulcers. Stay hydrated and use a warm compress to further assist with muscle relaxation.
