Mahaflox-LP Eye Drops are used to treat steroid-responsive inflammatory eye conditions where bacterial infection is present or suspected. They are prescribed in conditions such as blepharitis, meibomitis, and non-ulcerative keratitis with suspected bacterial involvement. This medicine may also be used after eye surgery to manage inflammation when there is an associated risk of bacterial infection, helping control both infection and inflammation.

Here's how you should use Mahaflox-LP Eye Drops:

• Always wash your hands thoroughly before using.

• Gently shake the bottle before each use.

• Tilt your head back slightly and pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket.

• Hold the dropper above the eye and squeeze out one or two drops as directed by your doctor.

• Close your eyes for a few minutes without blinking or squinting, and lightly press your finger to the inside corner of the eye to prevent the liquid from draining out.

• Replace the dropper cap after each use, ensuring it doesn’t touch any surfaces.

Mahaflox-LP Eye Drops contains three active ingredients:

• Moxifloxacin (0.5%): This antibiotic falls under the fluoroquinolone class. It works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV enzymes which are crucial for bacterial cell division and replication. As a result, it disrupts bacterial DNA synthesis leading to cell death. Moxifloxacin effectively combats various gram-positive and gram-negative ocular pathogens.

• Loteprednol Etabonate (0.5%): This is a corticosteroid which exerts anti-inflammatory activity by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins that cause inflammation. This helps relieve symptoms such as redness, swelling and itching of the eyes.

• Benzalkonium chloride: It is used to prevent bacterial growth and contamination. It is a quaternary ammonium compound that is effective against a wide range of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi

• Keep Mahaflox-LP Eye Drops at room temperature, ideally below 30°C.

• Shield the product from light exposure.
