Lupirtin-P Tablet is used for the short-term relief of acute pain, such as pain after surgery, injuries, dental pain and muscle pain. It is a combination medicine containing flupirtine, a non-opioid pain reliever with muscle-relaxing properties, and paracetamol, a pain reliever and fever reducer.
This medicine is usually prescribed when other pain relievers, such as anti-inflammatory painkillers, are not suitable. Because flupirtine can cause serious liver damage, it should be used for no more than 2 weeks, and your doctor may check your liver function during treatment. Swallow the tablet whole with water, in the dose prescribed by your doctor.
Avoid alcohol completely while taking this medicine, as it increases the risk of liver damage and drowsiness. Rest, gentle movement and warm or cold compresses can help with pain.
Do not take this medicine if you have liver disease or drink alcohol regularly. Before starting, tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, myasthenia gravis or a history of liver problems with medicines, and about all other medicines you take, especially other medicines containing paracetamol and blood thinners. It is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. It may cause drowsiness, so do not drive if affected. Stop taking it and seek medical help straight away if you notice yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, pale stools, loss of appetite, nausea or unusual tiredness. Do not stop taking this medicine for any other reason unless your doctor advises you to do so.
