LINID IV Injection is used to treat serious bacterial infections caused by susceptible Gram-positive bacteria. It combines linezolid, an antibiotic, with intravenous fluids, and is generally reserved for infections needing hospital-level treatment.
Linezolid works by stopping bacterial protein synthesis, which prevents bacteria from growing and multiplying, treating serious infections such as hospital-acquired and community-acquired pneumonia and complicated skin infections.
This infusion is given into a vein by a healthcare professional in a hospital setting, at the dose and rate your doctor determines based on the type and severity of infection.
Tell your doctor about all other medicines you take, as linezolid can interact seriously with certain antidepressants and other medicines affecting serotonin. Your doctor will monitor your blood counts, particularly your platelet levels, if treatment continues for more than two weeks.
