LEVOKAST Suspension is used to manage allergic rhinitis and may be prescribed as add-on therapy in children with asthma associated with allergies, including sneezing, a runny nose and nasal congestion. It combines levocetirizine, an antihistamine, with montelukast, a leukotriene receptor antagonist.
Levocetirizine blocks histamine to relieve sneezing, itching and a runny nose, while montelukast reduces airway inflammation and prevents the narrowing of airways, together easing seasonal allergy and asthma-related symptoms.
Give this suspension to your child using the measuring cup provided, at the dose your child's doctor prescribes based on age and weight, once daily, usually in the evening.
Tell your child's doctor if your child has kidney disease, epilepsy, or a history of mood changes, since montelukast has rarely been linked with mood or sleep disturbance. This medicine can cause drowsiness, so monitor your child after each dose.
