Latoprost Eye Drops are used to treat glaucoma and ocular hypertension by lowering internal eye pressure. The medication works by improving the drainage of fluid from the eye, which helps protect the optic nerve and reduces the long-term risk of vision loss.

Administer Latoprost Eye Drops by following these steps:

• Thoroughly wash your hands before beginning.
• If you wear contact lenses, remove them before administering the eye drops. Wait at least 15 minutes after using the drops before reinserting your lenses.
• Tilt your head back and gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
• Hold the dropper close to your eye, but make sure it doesn't touch your eye or eyelid.
• Gently squeeze out one drop into your eye. Do not let the dropper touch your eye or any other surface.
• Close your eye and press gently on the inner corner for 1-2 minutes. This prevents the medication from draining away too quickly.
• If you have been advised to use more than one type of eye drop, wait at least 5 minutes between each type.

Latoprost Eye Drops contain two active ingredients:

• Latanoprost (0.005%): This prostaglandin F2α analog works by enhancing the outflow of aqueous humour from the eye. This action helps reduce the elevated intraocular pressure associated with glaucoma and ocular hypertension, thus helping to prevent optic nerve damage and potential vision loss.
• Benzalkonium chloride (0.02%): Used as a preservative in the formulation, it helps to preserve the stability and effectiveness of the eye drops. It also possesses antibacterial properties that help maintain the sterility of the eye drops.

• Always store Latoprost Eye Drops in a cool, dry place, ideally at room temperature between 2 to 8 degrees Celsius.
• Keep the drops away from direct sunlight and moisture to maintain their efficacy.
• Ensure the bottle is tightly sealed when not in use.
• Keep this medicine out of the reach of children and pets for safety reasons.
• Always look at the expiry date on the bottle before use and do not use it past this date.

• If you have glaucoma or ocular hypertension, maintaining a balanced diet rich in antioxidants can be beneficial. Include foods like leafy greens, berries, and fish, which are high in omega-3 fatty acids.
• Regular eye exercises can also help manage your condition. Try simple activities such as blinking your eyes rapidly for a few seconds, focusing on distant objects intermittently when working on screens, or gently massaging your eyelids with your fingertips. However, always consult your doctor before starting any new exercise routine.
