Xalatan Eye Drops 2.5ml

Xalatan Eye Drops are used for the following:

• Reducing high intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma.

• Decreasing elevated intraocular pressure in individuals with ocular hypertension.

• Preventing optic nerve damage and vision loss by controlling intraocular pressure.

To use Xalatan Eye Drops correctly, follow these steps:

• Always wash your hands thoroughly before handling the eye drops.

• Tilt your head back slightly and pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket.

• Hold the dropper above the eye, squeeze out one drop, and then close your eye.

• Do not allow the dropper tip to touch any surface, including your eyes, to avoid contamination.

• If you wear contact lenses, remove them before application and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them after applying the drops.

Xalatan Eye Drops are instilled topically.

Xalatan Eye Drops contain two active ingredients:

• Latanoprost (50 mcg): This ingredient is a prostaglandin F2α analogue. Its main function is to increase the outflow of aqueous humour from the eye. This action reduces the amount of fluid inside the eye, thereby decreasing the intraocular pressure.

• Sodium Chloride (4.10 mg): This component is added to maintain the tonicity of the solution. This ensures that the solution remains balanced and does not cause discomfort when applied to the eye.

• It can be stored at 2-8 degrees Celsius, and once opened, the container may be stored at a room temperature of up to 25 degrees Celsius.

• Keep them away from direct light, and do not freeze.

• Ensure the bottle is tightly closed when not in use to prevent exposure to air and moisture.

• Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

• Always check the expiry date before using the drops.

• Regular physical activity, like walking or swimming, can help manage high blood pressure that could contribute to ocular hypertension or glaucoma.

• Cut back on caffeine, as it can increase eye pressure. Instead, stay well-hydrated with non-alcoholic, caffeine-free fluids to maintain overall health and eye function.
