Lacoset 50 Tablet is used to control focal-onset (partial) seizures, with or without spreading to both sides of the brain, in adults and children with epilepsy. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing lacosamide, which belongs to a class of medicines called antiepileptics.
This medicine can be used on its own or together with other epilepsy medicines. It calms overactive nerve signals in the brain, helping to reduce how often seizures occur. Take it daily at the same times, with or without food; your doctor will start with a low dose and increase it gradually.
Keeping regular sleep, avoiding alcohol, managing stress and taking every dose on time help keep seizures under control. Keep a seizure diary to share with your doctor.
Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly, as this can cause seizures to return. Before starting, tell your doctor if you have a heart rhythm problem or heart block, heart disease, kidney or liver disease, or a history of depression, and about other medicines you take, especially other medicines that affect heart rhythm. It can cause dizziness and blurred vision, so do not drive until you know how it affects you. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding. Seek medical help for a slow or irregular heartbeat, fainting, or thoughts of self-harm. Do not stop taking this medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
