Ketocip Tablet 10

Ketocip Tablet is used to treat systemic fungal infections such as blastomycosis, coccidioidomycosis, histoplasmosis, chromomycosis, and paracoccidioidomycosis, when other antifungal therapies have failed or are not tolerated.

Here's how to take Ketocip Tablet 10 :

• If you are taking acid-lowering medicines, ensure there is at least a 2-hour gap before or after taking this medicine.

Ketocip Tablet 10 contains ketoconazole (200 mg) which has multiple mechanisms of action:

• Inhibition of Ergosterol Synthesis: Ketoconazole works by inhibiting an enzyme known as 14α-demethylase in fungi. This enzyme is responsible for the conversion of lanosterol into ergosterol - a vital component of fungal cell membranes.

• Disruption of Fungal Cell Membrane: By blocking ergosterol synthesis, ketoconazole disrupts the structure and function of the fungal cell membrane. This increased permeability allows leakage of cellular contents leading to cell death and halts fungal growth.

• Reduction in Human Hormone Synthesis: Ketoconazole may also reduce the synthesis of testosterone and cortisol in humans by inhibiting certain enzymes. These effects are usually reversible once you stop taking the medicine.
