Istamet D-XR 1000 Tablet is used to control blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes. It improves insulin action, reduces glucose production, and increases glucose elimination through urine, helping achieve better glycaemic control and lowering long-term diabetes risks.

To use Istamet D-XR 1000 Tablet correctly, please follow these instructions:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
• Do not crush, cut or chew the tablet.
• Take this medicine once daily with your evening meal.
• Do not take more than the recommended dose without consulting your doctor.
• It's important not to stop taking this medicine without speaking to your doctor first.

Istamet D-XR 1000 Tablet is taken orally.

The Istamet D-XR 1000 Tablet has three active ingredients each performing a unique role:

• Dapagliflozin (10 mg): This ingredient works as a sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor. By reducing renal glucose reabsorption, it increases urinary glucose excretion leading to lowered blood sugar levels. It also helps in decreasing blood pressure and body weight.
• Metformin (1000 mg): Classified as a biguanide, metformin's function is threefold. It decreases hepatic glucose production, reduces intestinal glucose absorption and enhances insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilisation.
• Sitagliptin (100 mg): As a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, sitagliptin slows down the inactivation of incretin hormones. This leads to an increase in insulin synthesis and release from pancreatic beta cells while suppressing glucagon secretion from pancreatic alpha cells.

• Keep Istamet D-XR 1000 Tablet in a dry place protected from light.
• Store at a temperature between 20°C and 25°C, with short periods allowed between 15°C and 30°C.
• Ensure this medicine is out of reach of children.
• Always use it before the expiry date printed on the pack.
