Gluconorm P 15 Tablet is used to manage high blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This combination medicine is part of the oral antidiabetic agents class and is used when diet, exercise and single medicines fail to control blood sugar levels.

This medicine works by improving insulin sensitivity in the body's tissues and decreasing glucose production by the liver, together helping to maintain normal blood sugar levels throughout the day.

Take this tablet exactly as directed by your doctor, generally with a meal, to ensure optimal control of your blood sugar.

Gluconorm P 15 Tablet is used for management of type 2 diabetes mellitus, control of high blood sugar levels, improving insulin sensitivity in the body, and second-line therapy when single medicines are insufficient.

Uses of Gluconorm P 15 Tablet 10 are:

Type 2 Diabetes: Controls high blood sugar and improves insulin sensitivity.
Second-Line Therapy: Used when diet, exercise and single medicines are not enough.

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
Do not crush, break, or chew the tablet.
Keep the medication in its original packaging and protect it from light and moisture.

Gluconorm P 15 Tablet 10 may cause some side effects that are usually mild and go away as your body adjusts to the medicine.

A few common side effects of Gluconorm P 15 Tablet 10:

Neurological: Headache may occur.
Digestive: Loose motions (diarrhoea) and abdominal pain can occur.
Musculoskeletal: Myalgia, muscle pain or aching, may occur in some people; notify your doctor if you experience any unusual side effects.

If side effects do not improve or become serious, speak to your doctor right away.

Management Of Side Effects:

Most side effects are temporary and generally harmless, which resolve on discontinuing the use of Gluconorm P 15 Tablet. However, if you experience any serious side effects or worsening of any of the symptoms, please consult your doctor.

Diarrhoea: Try taking Gluconorm P 15 Tablet with meals to reduce the likelihood of this side effect.
Abdominal pain: Taking this medicine after food rather than on an empty stomach may help minimise stomach discomfort.

Gluconorm P 15 Tablet contains two active ingredients that work together to control blood sugar:

Metformin (500 mg): As an antidiabetic agent, metformin decreases the amount of glucose your liver produces and improves how your body responds to insulin, helping muscle cells use glucose more effectively.
Pioglitazone (15 mg): This component activates special receptors called peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) in your body. These receptors help control the genes involved in glucose and fat metabolism, improving insulin sensitivity in fat tissues, muscles, and the liver.

Pregnancy

Gluconorm P 15 Tablet is not recommended during pregnancy, especially during the second and third trimesters. If you are pregnant or planning to conceive, make sure to discuss this with your doctor before starting this medicine.

Breastfeeding

Caution is advised while taking Gluconorm P 15 Tablet if you are breastfeeding. Metformin, one of the ingredients, passes into breast milk. It is best to consult your doctor before taking this medicine, as they can help weigh the benefits against potential risks to your baby.

Alcohol

Allergy

Do not take Gluconorm P 15 Tablet if you have a known allergy to metformin, pioglitazone, or any other ingredients in this medicine. Tell your doctor about any previous allergic reactions to medicines before starting treatment.

Children

Gluconorm P 15 Tablet is not recommended for children under 18 years of age. The safety and effectiveness of this medicine have not been established in children.

Older Patients

Older patients should take Gluconorm P 15 Tablet under medical supervision. If you are elderly, you may be more prone to side effects, including lactic acidosis, heart failure, and bone fractures. Your doctor may start you on a lower dose and monitor you more closely.

CYP2C8 Inducers: Medicines like rifampin can decrease pioglitazone levels, potentially reducing the effectiveness of Gluconorm P 15 Tablet.
Carbonic Anhydrase Inhibitors: Medicines such as topiramate and zonisamide may increase your risk of lactic acidosis (a serious condition where lactic acid builds up in your blood) when taken with metformin.

Bladder cancer: Pioglitazone may increase the risk of bladder cancer. It should not be used if you have active bladder cancer.

Over Dose
