Flucort C Cream is a medicine applied to the skin, used to treat fungal skin infections that come with inflammation, redness, swelling and itching. It is a combination medicine containing ciclopirox (an antifungal that controls the infection) and fluocinolone acetonide (a corticosteroid that calms inflamed skin), and belongs to classes of medicines called antifungals and topical corticosteroids.
This medicine works by stopping the fungus from growing (ciclopirox) while reducing inflammation, redness and itching of the skin (fluocinolone). Apply a thin layer to the affected area only, with clean and dry hands, as prescribed by your doctor. Wash your hands before and after application, and keep the cream away from your eyes, nose, mouth and vaginal area.
Keeping the affected area clean and dry, wearing loose, breathable clothing, and avoiding sharing towels or clothing can help the skin heal and prevent the infection spreading. Symptoms may take several days to weeks to improve, so continue using the cream for the full course as advised.
Before using this medicine, tell your doctor if you have broken or thinning skin, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not use it on the face or skin folds unless your doctor advises, and use it only for the short course prescribed, as long use of a steroid cream can thin the skin. Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve or gets worse.
