CompositionFlucolab 150 Tablet is an antifungal medicine used to treat common fungal infections, most often vaginal yeast infections (thrush). It is a single-ingredient medicine containing fluconazole, and belongs to a class of medicines called triazole antifungals.
This medicine works by stopping the fungus from making ergosterol, a key part of its cell membrane, so the fungal cells become unstable and die. It is also used for fungal infections of the mouth and throat, fungal skin infections such as ringworm and athlete's foot, and, at higher doses under medical supervision, serious infections such as cryptococcal meningitis. Swallow the tablet whole with water, with or without food, for as long as your doctor advises.
Keeping the affected area clean and dry and wearing loose, breathable cotton clothing can help prevent a fungal infection from returning. Symptoms such as itching and discharge may take a few days to settle.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or take medicines such as warfarin, glipizide, glibenclamide, midazolam, amlodipine or diltiazem. Seek medical advice if you notice yellowing of the skin or eyes or a widespread, peeling skin rash.
