CompositionFebutaz 20 Tablet is used to manage chronic gout by lowering the level of uric acid in the blood. It is a single-ingredient xanthine oxidase inhibitor containing febuxostat.
It helps prevent painful joint attacks, redness and swelling. Take it with or without food in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor, and continue it even when you feel well, as it prevents future attacks rather than relieving a current one.
Drink plenty of water, limit alcohol, especially beer, and cut down on purine-rich foods such as red meat, organ meats and some seafood. Maintain a healthy weight.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have heart disease, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Gout attacks can increase in the first few months as stored uric acid crystals dissolve, so do not stop the medicine on your own; your doctor may prescribe a short course of anti-inflammatory medicine. Your liver function will be monitored. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
