Febutaz 20 Tablet is used to treat gout by reducing uric acid levels in the blood. It works by blocking the enzyme responsible for uric acid production, thereby preventing gout attacks, swelling, and joint pain. It belongs to the class of xanthine oxidase inhibitors.
In addition to managing chronic gout, this medicine is also used to lower uric acid levels in patients receiving cancer treatment who are at risk of tumour lysis syndrome. It helps prevent painful gout flares and is typically prescribed when other gout medicines like allopurinol are not well tolerated or fail to adequately control uric acid levels.
