Famtac 40 Tablet is used to treat and prevent stomach and intestinal ulcers. It also helps manage gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and relieves occasional heartburn and acid indigestion.
It contains famotidine, a histamine H2-receptor antagonist that reduces the amount of acid your stomach produces. Take this tablet as prescribed by your doctor, with or without food, and continue it for the full duration advised, as stopping early may allow symptoms or ulcers to return.
Avoiding spicy, fried or acidic foods, eating smaller meals, and not lying down straight after eating can help reduce acid-related discomfort alongside this medicine. Limiting caffeine, alcohol and smoking is also useful for ulcer healing.
Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems before starting this medicine, as your dose may need adjusting. Report black or tarry stools, persistent stomach pain or difficulty swallowing to your doctor promptly, as these may need further checking.
