Etoshine MR Tablet is used in adults for short-term relief of painful muscle spasm with inflammation, such as acute back pain, neck pain and muscle strain. It is a combination medicine containing etoricoxib 60mg, which belongs to a class of medicines called COX-2 inhibitors (selective NSAIDs), and thiocolchicoside 4mg, which belongs to a class called muscle relaxants.
This medicine works by reducing chemicals in the body that cause pain and swelling, while thiocolchicoside relaxes tight, painful muscles. Take it with or after food as directed by your doctor, for no more than seven days.
Thiocolchicoside must only be used for short courses because, at higher doses or with longer use, it has been linked to damage to the genetic material of cells. It may cause drowsiness, so take care with driving until you know how it affects you, and avoid alcohol.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have high blood pressure, heart disease, a previous stroke, a stomach ulcer, kidney or liver problems, or epilepsy. It must not be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding, by women who could become pregnant and are not using contraception, or by anyone under 16. Stop and seek urgent help for chest pain, sudden weakness, black stools or vomiting blood.
