Esomefol Tablet is used to treat conditions caused by excess stomach acid, such as gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), stomach and duodenal ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It reduces stomach acid, relieving heartburn, acid reflux, and stomach pain, and allows damage to the food pipe to heal.
It contains esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). Swallow the tablet whole with water, preferably before a meal, without chewing or crushing it. Take it as prescribed and continue the full course even if you feel better early, as stopping too soon may cause symptoms to return.
Certain lifestyle changes can help ease acid-related symptoms. These include avoiding spicy, fatty, or acidic foods, limiting caffeine and alcohol, eating smaller and more frequent meals, avoiding lying down soon after eating, and maintaining a healthy weight.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have liver problems, osteoporosis, or are taking other medicines, particularly clopidogrel. Prolonged use may raise the risk of bone fractures and low magnesium levels. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
