This medication contains Entecavir, a nucleoside analog antiviral. It works by blocking the ""reverse transcriptase"" enzyme that the Hepatitis B virus needs to copy its DNA and multiply. By ""jamming"" the virus's replication machinery, the medication stops the infection from spreading to healthy liver cells.
Take this tablet once daily on an empty stomach (at least 2 hours after a meal and 2 hours before the next one) for the best absorption. It is critical not to miss doses, as this could allow the virus to become resistant to the medication. Inform your doctor if you have any history of HIV or kidney disease. Do not stop this medication without consulting your specialist, as the infection can flare up severely if the drug is discontinued.
