Diamox 250mg Tablet is used to treat and manage glaucoma, a condition caused by raised pressure within the eye. It is a single-ingredient carbonic anhydrase inhibitor containing acetazolamide.
It reduces fluid build-up in the eye, which helps prevent vision loss. It is also used to manage fluid retention (oedema), to help control epileptic seizures and to prevent altitude sickness. Take it in the dose, frequency and duration prescribed by your doctor.
Drink enough water unless your doctor has advised otherwise, and avoid rapid ascent to high altitudes if you are prone to altitude sickness. Attend regular eye check-ups.
Before starting, tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, or an allergy to sulphonamide medicines, and about all other medicines, supplements or herbal products you take. Report tingling in the hands or feet, a rash, or a sudden change in vision. Follow the prescribed dose, frequency and duration, report persistent or serious side effects, and do not stop the medicine unless your doctor advises you to do so.
