Defcort TM Capsule is a combination medicine used to relieve urinary symptoms in men with benign prostatic hyperplasia (an enlarged prostate gland). It helps ease difficulty in passing urine, improves urine flow, and reduces the urgency and frequency of urination.
It contains deflazacort, a corticosteroid, and tamsulosin, an alpha-blocker. Take the capsule as prescribed after a meal, ideally at the same time each day. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor, as steroid treatment requires careful medical supervision.
Lifestyle adjustments such as limiting fluid intake before bedtime, reducing caffeine and alcohol consumption, and avoiding holding urine for long periods can help support urinary health during treatment.
Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have high blood pressure, diabetes, stomach ulcers, kidney or liver problems, or an upcoming eye surgery (such as cataract surgery). Inform your doctor promptly if you develop signs of infection, persistent dizziness, significant weight gain, or mood changes.
