Dabistar 110 Capsule is used to prevent stroke and systemic embolism in adults with non-valvular atrial fibrillation. It is also used to treat and prevent the recurrence of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, helping reduce the risk of dangerous blood clot formation, especially in elderly patients and those at higher bleeding risk.

To use Dabistar 110 Capsule effectively:

Dabistar 110 Capsule contains dabigatran etexilate (110 mg), which works on your body as follows:

• Conversion to Active Form: After oral administration, dabigatran etexilate gets absorbed rapidly and transforms into its active form, dabigatran, in the gut and liver through esterase-catalyzed hydrolysis.
• Thrombin Inhibition: Dabigatran acts as a potent, reversible, competitive inhibitor of thrombin—an enzyme crucial for blood clot formation. By blocking thrombin, it prevents the conversion of fibrinogen into fibrin during blood coagulation.
• Thrombus Prevention: The inhibition process stops the development of a thrombus (blood clot). Dabigatran not only inhibits free thrombin but also obstructs fibrin-bound thrombin and thrombin-induced platelet aggregation.
