Clamp Xl Suspension 60ml

Clamp XL Oral Suspension is used for managing the following conditions in children:

• Ear, nose and throat infections like acute otitis media, sinusitis, pharyngitis and tonsillitis

• Respiratory tract infections such as community-acquired pneumonia and acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis

• Skin and soft tissue infections

• Complicated and uncomplicated urinary tract infections

• Dental infections

• Gynaecological infections like pelvic inflammatory disease and endometritis

Please note that this medicine is effective only against bacterial infections. It is not intended to manage viral infections like the common cold or flu.

Ensure you give Clamp XL Oral Suspension to your child as directed below:

• Shake the bottle well before use.

• Measure the correct dose using the measuring spoon or cup provided with the medicine.

• You can give this medicine to your child with or without food.

• Check the package for further details.

Clamp XL Oral Suspension is given orally to your child.

The effectiveness of Clamp XL Oral Suspension comes from two active ingredients:

• Amoxicillin (400 mg): This component works by disrupting the formation of bacterial cell walls. It attaches itself to proteins within the bacterial cell wall and interferes with the linkage of chains in a substance called peptidoglycan which is necessary for the strength and rigidity of bacterial cell walls. The weakened bacteria can't withstand pressure from within and eventually break apart.

• Clavulanic Acid (57 mg): Whilst it doesn't have much antibacterial activity itself, clavulanic acid is a powerful inhibitor of an enzyme called beta-lactamase that certain bacteria produce. This enzyme usually breaks open penicillin antibiotics like amoxicillin and inactivates them. By blocking these enzymes, clavulanic acid protects amoxicillin from being broken down thereby allowing it to combat even those bacteria that produce beta-lactamase.

• Store the unprepared Clamp XL Oral Suspension powder at normal room temperature not exceeding 25°C.

• Keep it in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.

• Avoid storing it in the bathroom due to high humidity levels.

• Ensure it's kept out of reach of children.

• Store the reconstituted suspension in the refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C. Content to be consumed within 7 days.

• For respiratory infections managed by Clamp XL Oral Suspension, encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids. This will help thin mucus and reduce coughing.

• If your child is managing a urinary tract infection, also with Clamp XL Oral Suspension, make sure they avoid caffeine and citrus juices as these can irritate the bladder. Instead, opt for water or cranberry juice which can help fight infections.
