Clavam Forte Dry Syrup is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections in children, including infections of the ear, nose, throat, respiratory tract and urinary tract. It is effective against resistant bacterial strains, but does not work against viral infections such as the common cold or flu.
This syrup combines amoxicillin, which kills bacteria, with clavulanic acid, which prevents bacteria from breaking down the amoxicillin. It is provided as a dry powder that must be reconstituted with water as directed on the label. Give it exactly as prescribed based on your child's age and weight, and complete the entire course to help prevent antibiotic resistance.
Giving the syrup with food can help reduce stomach upset in some children. Keeping your child well hydrated and encouraging rest can also support recovery from the infection.
Before giving this syrup, tell your doctor if your child has a history of penicillin allergy or liver problems. Inform your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking. Contact your doctor if your child develops a rash, persistent diarrhoea, or does not improve within a few days.
