Cetil 250 Tablet is used for managing:

• Bronchitis, pneumonia, pharyngitis, tonsillitis and sinusitis, which are all types of respiratory tract infections.

• Urinary tract infections (UTIs), where bacteria infect any part of the urinary system.

• Skin and soft tissue infections caused by bacteria.

• Bone and joint infections, where bacteria invade the bones or joints.

• Gonorrhoea, a sexually transmitted infection caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae.

• Early Lyme disease, an infection transmitted through the bite of infected ticks.

• It is also used to prevent bacterial infection during surgical procedures.

Here's how you should take Cetil 250 Tablet:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Don't crush or chew it.

• Always take your medicine with food to aid absorption and minimise stomach upset.

• Remember not to exceed the recommended dose unless your doctor advises otherwise.

• If you have kidney problems, consult your doctor for advice on dosage adjustments.

Cetil 250 Tablet contains cefuroxime (250 mg) which works in your body as follows:

• Targets Penicillin-Binding Proteins: Cefuroxime binds to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located within the bacterial cell wall. These PBPs play an important role in building the cell wall structure.

• Inhibits Cell Wall Synthesis: Once bound to these PBPs, cefuroxime obstructs the cross-linkage of peptidoglycan chains, which are vital components of the bacterial cell wall.

• Causes Bacterial Cell Death: By weakening the cell wall structure through this process, cefuroxime causes the bacteria to break open and die off, thereby helping to manage the infection.

• Store your Cetil 250 Tablet below 30°C for optimal effectiveness.

• Keep it away from light and moisture to prevent damage.

• Ensure it's out of reach of children to avoid accidental ingestion.

• Always check the expiry date before taking this medicine.

• If you're managing a urinary tract infection with Cetil 250 Tablet, drink plenty of water. This helps flush out the bacteria from your system.

• For respiratory tract infections, avoid smoking and exposure to second-hand smoke. These can irritate your lungs and worsen your condition.
