Cefix O Tablet 10

Cefix-O Tablet is used to treat bacterial infections through a dual antibiotic action.

Uses of Cefix-O Tablet are:

• Respiratory Infections: Treats bronchitis, pneumonia and pharyngitis.
• Urinary Infections: Manages cystitis and pyelonephritis.
• Other Infections: Treats typhoid fever, ear infections and uncomplicated gonorrhoea.

When taking Cefix-O Tablet, please note the following:

• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew it.
• The tablet can be taken with or without food according to your preference.

Cefix-O Tablet carries two active components that work together to combat various bacterial infections:

• Cefixime (200 mg): As a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, cefixime works by binding to and inactivating penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) found on the inner membrane of the bacterial cell wall. These proteins are necessary for maintaining the strength and rigidity of the bacterial cell wall by helping in the cross-linkage of peptidoglycan chains. By interfering with this process, cefixime makes the cell wall more susceptible to rupture leading to the death of bacteria.
• Ofloxacin (200 mg): This fluoroquinolone antibiotic hinders bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV enzymes. These enzymes are critical for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination. By inhibiting these enzymes, ofloxacin disrupts the synthesis of bacterial DNA, causing cell death.
• Together, cefixime and ofloxacin offer a wide range of antibacterial activity and demonstrate synergistic action against many pathogens.

• Keep the Cefix-O Tablet in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
• The ideal storage temperature ranges between 20°C to 25°C.
