Cefix 100 Tablet is a prescription antibiotic medicine used to treat various bacterial infections in adults and children as prescribed. These include respiratory tract infections like bronchitis and pneumonia, ear, nose, throat, and sinus infections, urinary tract infections (UTIs), typhoid fever, and uncomplicated gonorrhea.
It contains cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It works by stopping bacteria from forming the protective cell wall needed for their survival, thereby clearing the infection. Take it with or without food as prescribed. It is essential to complete the full course of treatment even if your symptoms clear up earlier, as stopping too soon can lead to infection relapse or antibiotic resistance.
General supporting steps help promote recovery during an infection. These include getting adequate rest, maintaining proper fluid intake, taking prescribed doses at evenly spaced intervals, and avoiding skipping doses.
Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have kidney problems, a history of stomach or bowel disease (such as colitis), or known allergies to cephalosporin or penicillin antibiotics. Tell your doctor if you develop severe, persistent watery diarrhoea or skin rashes. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
