CompositionCefakind 500 Tablet is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, ears and sinuses, such as bronchitis and sinusitis. It is also used for skin infections, urinary tract infections and early-stage Lyme disease, and is a useful choice when standard penicillins are not suitable.
It contains cefuroxime axetil, a second-generation cephalosporin. It works by stopping bacteria building their protective cell wall, which kills them and clears the infection.
Take the tablet after a meal for the best absorption, and complete the full course even if you feel better.
Tell your doctor about any penicillin or cephalosporin allergy before starting. Contact your doctor if you develop a severe skin rash, facial swelling or persistent diarrhoea during or after treatment.
