Bonista Injection is used to treat severe osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men at high risk of fractures, stimulating new bone formation and improving bone density.
It contains teriparatide (750 mcg/3 mL), a parathyroid hormone analogue. It is given as a daily subcutaneous injection. Treatment is limited to a maximum of 24 months in a lifetime.
Adequate calcium and vitamin D intake as directed, and regular bone density monitoring, support safe treatment alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor about any Paget's disease of bone, previous bone radiation, raised calcium levels or bone cancer before starting. Sit down for the first few injections in case of dizziness on standing. Report new or unusual bone pain or a lump at the injection site.
