Bisopharm 5 Tablet 10 is used to manage high blood pressure, long-term chest pain (angina) and heart failure in adults. It is a single-ingredient medicine containing bisoprolol, and belongs to a class of medicines called beta-blockers.
This medicine works by selectively blocking beta-1 receptors in the heart, which slows the heart rate and reduces the force of each heartbeat, lowering blood pressure and reducing the overall strain on the heart. Take this tablet with or without food, in the dose prescribed by your doctor.
Reducing salt intake, keeping to a healthy weight, staying active as your doctor advises and avoiding smoking can support better heart and blood pressure control alongside this medicine.
Tell your doctor about any asthma, a very slow heart rate, or poor circulation in the hands and feet, and about any other medicines you are taking, before starting this medicine. Report any marked breathlessness, a very slow heartbeat or cold hands and feet to your doctor. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly, as this can cause a rapid rise in heart rate or chest pain; your doctor will reduce the dose gradually.
