Composition

Azithromycin (40 Mg)

Azithral Jr Suspension is used to treat bacterial infections in infants and children, including sinus, throat, ear, chest and skin infections. It helps the body clear the infection causing symptoms such as fever, cough and soreness.

It contains azithromycin, a macrolide antibiotic. Give the suspension by mouth as prescribed, with or without food. Complete the full course even if your child starts feeling better, as stopping early can allow the infection to return and make future infections harder to treat.

Shake the bottle well before each dose and use the measuring cup or spoon provided, rather than a regular kitchen spoon, so your child gets the correct amount. Encourage plenty of fluids and rest to support recovery.

Before giving this medicine, tell your doctor if your child has liver or kidney problems, heart rhythm issues, or known allergies to antibiotics. Contact your doctor if your child develops diarrhoea, a rash, or does not improve within a few days of starting treatment.

Azithral Jr Suspension is used in infants and children to treat bacterial infections of the sinuses, throat, ear, chest and skin, helping clear the infection and relieve associated symptoms.

Uses of Azithral Jr Suspension are:

Respiratory Infections: Treats bacterial sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis and community-acquired pneumonia.
Ear Infections: Clears acute middle ear infections (otitis media) in children.

To give Azithral Jr Oral Suspension to your child, follow the instructions below:

Shake the bottle well before use.
Use a dosing syringe or medicine cup to measure the exact quantity recommended by your doctor.
The suspension can be given directly or mixed with a small amount of water.
Give the medicine at evenly spaced times as advised by your doctor for the best effect.
If your child's stomach becomes upset, giving the medicine with food may help.

Azithral Jr Suspension may cause some side effects that are usually mild and go away as your child's body adjusts to the medicine.

A few common side effects of Azithral Jr Suspension are:

Digestive: Diarrhoea, feeling sick (nausea), stomach pain and vomiting. Giving the medicine with food may help reduce stomach upset.
Neurological: Headache and dizziness.
Other: Mild skin rash, itching, and changes in taste or smell.

Azithral Jr Oral Suspension contains azithromycin (40 mg), which acts on the body in the following ways:

Inhibits Bacterial Protein Synthesis: Azithromycin works by attaching itself to a part of the bacteria called the 50S ribosomal subunit. This interferes with bacterial protein synthesis - a process that helps bacteria grow and multiply.
Stops Bacterial Growth: By disrupting protein synthesis, azithromycin effectively puts a stop to the growth and multiplication of bacteria. This allows your child's immune system to fight off the infection more efficiently.
