Augmed 625 Tablet is used to treat moderate to severe bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin, soft tissues, bones, joints, and dental structures. It is effective in cases where bacteria are resistant to standard penicillin antibiotics and also helps eradicate H. pylori in peptic ulcer disease.
It contains amoxicillin 500mg and clavulanic acid 125mg. Amoxicillin kills bacteria by blocking the formation of their cell walls, while clavulanic acid acts as a beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects amoxicillin from the enzymes resistant bacteria use to break it down. This extends the antibiotic's coverage to a broader range of resistant organisms.
Take the tablet at the start of a meal to improve absorption and reduce stomach side effects. Complete the full prescribed course, even if you begin to feel better, to prevent bacterial resistance from developing.
Diarrhoea and nausea are the most common effects and usually settle during the course. Tell your doctor if you have a known allergy to penicillin, a history of liver problems associated with amoxicillin-clavulanic acid, or are taking blood-thinning medicines.
